FOOTBALL-----------------------SPORT

Well, we start right off with good ole American Football

Thank goodness Football made the cut, and is rightly classified as a sport, because if Football didn't make the cut, I would have to seriously reevaluate the points system that was used to distinguish a sport from a non-sport.

So why is Football a sport? As you can see from the points it received, Football ranks very high in all four areas of the grading system and received the maximum of 30 points in competition. Football ranks a little low in the area of skill, only 21 points; one can certainly argue that running the option is just brute strength and speed, not much skill to that.

The competitive nature of Football is unparalleled, from the players to the coaches and even the fans (just attend a game in Oakland wearing the visitor's jersey and you'll see what I mean).

With that said…

FINAL WORD: SPORT

Tidbits: (Hey, nobody said these guys were rocket scientists)

· "Nobody in football should be called a genius. A genius is a guy like Norman Einstein."-Joe Theismann, former NFL QB and Commentator

· "I may be dumb, but I'm not stupid."- Terry Bradshaw

· "Pro Football is like nuclear warfare. There are no winners, only survivors" Frank Gifford, 4 Jul 1960, Sports Illustrated.
